Why does my mini-split keep closing?
Your mini-split might keep shutting off, such as –

- A dirty filter can restrict airflow.
- Low refrigerant levels make it difficult to absorb and transfer heat.

Can a mini-split provide heating and cooling at the same time?
Yes, a ductless mini-split system can heat and cool simultaneously.
What is the most common cause of inadequate heating or cooling performance?
A dirty air filter is the most common cause of inadequate heating or cooling performance. Other common causes are:
- Refrigerant leaks.
- Incorrect settings or a malfunctioning thermostat.
- Ductwork like closed or blocked vents, undersized ducts, or blockages.
- Poor insulation or air leaks and
- Dirty evaporator and condenser coils.
How do you clean a condensate drain pump?
You can use different methods to clean a condensate drain pump, including –
- First of all, unplug and disconnect the pump from the PVC pipe.
- Remove the pump and place it in a suitable work environment.
- Use a flathead screwdriver to remove the top of the pump and empty the pump.
- Use warm and clean water to rinse the pump and remove dirt. You can also use a bottlebrush or a similar tool to clean.
- Remove blockages, clean the reservoir, and
- Reattach the pump and reconnect the drain lines.
How often should split AC be cleaned?
You can clean your mini-split AC every two weeks or at least twice a year. If your air conditioner has an automatic cleaning function, you can use that.
Why does my mini-split make weird noises?
Your mini-split can make weird noises if the system doesn’t work well or the coils are dirty. Other reasons are:
- Loose parts, debris, or damaged fan blades.
- The system is breaking down, failing compressor, or frozen evaporator coils.
